Beyond The Barriers
On the National Unity Day,31 October 2018 (birthday of Sardar Vallabhai Patel), VITAL FOR INDIA brought out an animated audio song ‘Beyond The Barriers’ as part of ongoing Awareness Campaign on Fundamental Duties. Snehasandramee Bhumi
The theme song "Snehasandramee Bhumi" - A World full of love is been awarded with Special Jury Award (Audio) in the 22nd All India Children's Educational Audio-Video Festival & ICT Mela 2018 held at RIE, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from Feb 21st to 23rd, 2018. This song was extensively used in the awareness campaign done by Rotary Kanhangad and VITAL to promote citizenship duties among students, as part of the Fundamental Duties Day on 3rd January.

Fundamental Duties Day Celebration
Fundamental Duties Day was celebrated on 3rd January 2018 with the active participation of 8 schools in Kanhangad. With the support of Rotary Kanhangad, VITAL has organized various activities including an hour-long awareness programme on Fundamental Duties at all partner schools. It was aimed at motivating them to take part in the ensuing in-school and inter-school competitions such as essay writing, slogan creation, poster making, skit and duties in action. For this occasion, a theme song ““Snehasandramee Bhumi” has been created in Malayalam and Tamil.

‘The Constitution Day’ was celebrated at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Periya, Kasaragod, Kerala. The program addressed by Swami Muktananda, Head of Anandashram, Kanhangad was well received by students and staff. Students also took part in a related quiz competition.

A residential workshop on ‘Reinventing Schools, Rebuilding the World’, organized by the education wing of Initiatives of Change (formerly MRA) was held at Asia Plateau, Panchgani, where VITAL theme was presented to and later discussed by senior educators from different states of India.

Thayullam Foundation (VITAL Tamil Nadu Unit)
Thayullam Foundation (VITAL Tamil Nadu Unit) was invited by the State Government for the State Level Workshop on the Revision of State Syllabus for integrating Value Education in the proposed Revision of Curriculum. VITAL was represented at the advanced level Workshop in July and August 2017 for integration of Value education and the proposal for the same was presented to the Government / SCERT Tamil Nadu.

Me to We Mobile App
VITAL has entered into the digital world by bringing out a new mobile app – ‘Me to We’ – (Phase-1) to share VITAL methodology along with inspirational incidents, videos and quotes. Its initial launch was held in Excel Public School, Mysuru on 30, July, 2016.

Edusat Programme
Thayullam Foundation was invited by TN SCERT to participate in the Edusat programme run by Tamil Nadu State. The team from TF conducted a live interactive session with DIETs faculty and teacher trainees. The programme centred on VITAL methodology, was well-appreciated.

Teachers Manual 2
SCERT Tamil Nadu brought out a second Manual for Teachers on Value Education for 9th & 10th A month long workshop was organized by SCERT along with Thayullam Foundation team to prepare the content for manual.

Approval by TN SCERT
The Director of TN SCERT issued a Circular to all the High and Higher Secondary Schools (6th to 8th) in the State for extending the VITAL programme. 13000 teachers from about 6500 schools (two teachers from each school) will participate in the State level training programme (by cascading method), similar to the programme done for the Middle Schools last year. The module which was prepared last year, has been again ordered for print to cater 13000 teachers.

Thayullam Foundation Administrative Office
Thayullam Foundation Chennai has set-up a new administrative office to monitor and support the on-going projects of VITAL and VSET programs in Tamil Nadu and other States. A dedicated team of volunteers is working full time in spreading the vision of Thayullam Foundation.

Observing Fundamental Duties Day on 3rd January
3rd January 2016 was celebrated as Fundamental Duties Day at Navodaya School, Kasargod District, with the support of Rotary Kanhangad Kerala.

Teachers Manual 1
Subsequent to the release of the first manual for teachers of 6-8 classes on value integration at classroom, Tamil Nadu SCERT initiated a follow-up programme by conducting one-day workshops to train 8,000 select teachers under DIETs and BRCs from different districts, on implementing the manual at classroom. The workshops are also aimed at the periodical assessment of the methodology.

VITAL Model School
A pilot project called ‘VMS – VITAL Model School’ to introduce the VITAL theme and evaluate its impact in 20 Schools under Chennai DIET, was taken up by Thayullam Foundation with the support of SCERT Tamil Nadu and DIET Chennai for the academic year 2016-17.

Tamil Nadu State Government approval
VITAL methodology was formally accepted by Tamil Nadu State Government; the State Education department has made a specific reference in State Assembly, stating that VITAL methodology as a part of the value education programme was included in the education policy of the State for the academic year 2016.

Training Programme
About 80 Inner Wheel Club members (wives of Rotarians) were trained in VSET & VITAL methodology by Thayullam Foundation in a phased manner spread over two months to take up Value Education classes at Government schools in and around Chennai.

Outreach Programmes
A two-day workshop was organised by SCERT Telangana as pilot study to introduce VITAL methodology for select teachers, DIET faculty and resource persons.

2016
Acceptance for Publishing of Teachers’ Manual
A Teachers’ Manual based on VITAL Methodology was published by the Tamil Nadu SCERT. Thayullam Foundation (TF, our sister organization)played the pivotal role in this initiative. The Teachers’ Manual deals with value integration for classes 6, 7&8 for all subjects (English, Tamil, Science and Social Studies). TF also conducted an orientation programme on the same for 1000 teachers in November.

Training Programme 3rd Year
TF is continuing its training programme for Chennai Corporation schools for a third academic year along with a follow-up program. TF conducted a two-day workshop for the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Chennai region as part of their in-service teachers’ training program for this academic year, which was held in Chennai and Madurai.

Conclave on Value Integrated Education
VITAL hosted a ‘Conclave on Value Integrated Education’ with select officials of SCERTs of Delhi and Tamil Nadu in August. Held at the picturesque campus of VSET at Wayanad, the meeting was attended by Prof. M A. Khader, former curriculum head of NCERT, New Delhi and Director of SCERT New Delhi, senior lecturers from DIET and SCERT Chennai and TF team members

Training Program
Initiated by the Delhi SCERT Director, a training program was conducted for master trainers and DIET faculty of SCERT and later with prospective teachers (2nd year batch) of 9 DIETs of Delhi region in September. 450 students participated in the two day workshop in the 1st phase of training.

Media Outreach in Kerala
Vidya, the education supplement of Mathrubhumi, a leading Malayalam daily, has started publishing integration of value examples in academic subjects provided by VITAL team every week.

SCERT (State Council for Educational Research and Training) has taken up a pilot project to introduce VITAL theme in DIET centers of 3 districts.

Corporation of Chennai has signed an MOU with Thayullam Foundation (under which VITAL being introduced in Tamil Nadu State) to conduct a training program on VITAL methodology for all the Corporation school teachers (about 3000 teachers in a span of 3 Academic years from 2014-15 ) presently 1st phase of training program is going on

VITAL team was invited by the Additional Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, MHRD, New Delhi to attend a DIET conclave meeting held in Srinagar, J&K State, to present the VITAL theme on 1st July 2013.
